A heavy small workbench – 2
Progress is very slow but steady as with most of my projects. The beams making up the top are all glued up. Even though the top is relatively small I decided to still first glue half the top, to keep it manageable. Each half was first pre-planed, such that I could glue two relatively square pieces together.
At the same time I glued up the legs using smaller clamps. Even though I knew not to glue the bark sides together to prevent gaps to appear, I !^*@!-ed up the last one. But this gave me the opportunity to try out some butterfly joint to make sure the stuff stays together.
Currently I’m making the mortises for the legs. I’m drilling out most, before I start chiselling. My neighbours dining room is on the other side of my garage wall. I don’t want to annoy them too much.
Hopefully I can show the final result in the next post.
